Canseco: The new McCarthy

arod11.jpg

So the big story is that Alex Rodriguez won't "address" the allegations of Jose Canseco, Juicer Public Enemy #1, who said that he had introduced A-Rod to a steroids dealer. Of course, the media slant is that if you won't out and out deny it....hmmmmm.....

COME ON. Are you serious? That's like once again the guilt by association that kids have to face when they are at a party with drinking and even if they haven't had a sip of anything, they get arrested too--and that's just plain dumb. Jose Canseco is the baseball version of Joe McCarthy, who had everyone up in arms that they were communists and the "red scare" in American history--of course, most of those were unfounded and it was about as hyped as "War of the Worlds".

But here we are, in an age where steroid use by the Mitchell Report has damned even the bat boys, it seems. Baseball is tarnished, and Canseco is trying to not flush everyone down the toilet, he's trying to put a permanent black marker onto the shiny white baseballs. I understand if you physically saw someone take something or were in the presence of someone who owned the drugs, but good lord, how much is enough? When are we going to tell this clown to shut the hell up and go back to twitching with his inflamed biceps and little wee-wee? Seriously?

Whew....I feel better.
