Cueto's debut simply awesome

cueto.jpg

Awesome. I know that it's been used as a bad 80's way of describing something good, but to finest in its simplest term is that it is an experience "full of awe". And believe me, after watching Johnny Cueto and his debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cincinnati Reds rookie was just exactly that: awesome.

Cueto took a perfect game into the sixth inning, only the second time---in HISTORY--that a rookie in his debut had done such a feat. He struck out 10 and gave up 1 hit--a solo shot by Justin Upton--as the Reds took two of three from the D-backs. The even more amazing thing about this was that the effort was done in the Great American Ball Park, which is largely known as a hitter's park.

With manager Dusty Baker at the helm, the Reds should be much better off this year than previously. I know that Baker is not a savior by any means, but with the talent that the team already has, they should be able to really move up if they can stay healthy. With Cueto--if he can continue the way he's started, they will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
