Glavine goes on DL for first time

Glavine4.jpg

22 years. Older than the legal age to drink. And 22 years ago, the Chicago Bears were still doing the Super Bowl shuffle and Ronald Reagan was still in office. And it was the last time Tom Glavine was on the disabled list--until now.

The 42 year old lefty who has returned to the Atlanta Braves suffered a strained right hamstring almost a week ago, and had hoped that he was going to be able to start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, even though he tried--it just wasn't ready to go, and therefore had to go on the DL.

He pulled the hammy against the Washington Nationals, a game in which he only pitched 16 pitches, matching the shortest game of his career. It's one thing that he has been able to go such a long time without having to go on the disabled list, and another thing that this just may be the sign of that immediate down turn in a career--we'll see.
