Jackson bombs his way to NL POW

cjackson.jpg

His name is Conor Jackson. He has been solid for the Arizona Diamondbacks for the last couple of years. Nothing really spectacular or someone who stood out--especially as a first baseman who of course are more known for their power than anything else; Jackson has had a total of 32 HR in the last three seasons coming into this season, so he doesn't exactly fit into that category.

But after this week, does it matter?

The red-hot Dbacks, who are leading the major league with a 13-5 record, followed Jackson's lead for the past week, and his ssssssmokin' hitting (12 for 25) including pop--3 HR and 10 RBIs--gave him his first player of the week honor for the National League. He is now hitting .377. What happened?

Jackson really worked harder during the offseason in terms of his workout regimen and his diet to make the physical improvements. It also doesn't hurt to be on a team where you are 1)winning and 2) have other offensive support to take any pressure off of you. Regardless, Jackson had a week that many players only dream of, and he's being rewarded accordingly. If he plays at even 60% of this week, you should be seeing your National League's All-Star at first base.
