What's up with Victor Martinez?

It's one thing that in football you have injury reports where coaches are very mysterious as to the extent of their player's ailments. It makes a difference in how teams prepare, it makes a difference in the "chess game" that they like to play through the media. But baseball? Not so much. You already have extensive scouting reports, you already have situations where coaches have all kinds of info regardless of who's in and who's out.

So then--why the mystery surrounding Victor Martinez? I mean, the Cleveland Indians have said he has a "mild strain", but it was apparent that near the end of the game versus the Chicago White Sox that he was struggling quite a bit. But they haven't said too much and said that there is no planned roster move, but as a catcher with a "strain", you can't be too careful, so that may mean a little bit more than they are leading on.

Last year, Martinez also had a rough start but only missed six games--and still went on to have his best year ever. So maybe this is just part of his mojo? For fantasy owners, it is a nightmare with this type of "unknown", so hopefully for them and also for the Indians, Martinez' really is just having an annoyance rather than something that nags him and his performance.
